A coronation.

MONARCH was born from a single conviction a haircut is not a service, it is a coronation. Founded in 2024 in the heart of Toronto, the studio was built as a throne room for the modern gentleman, where precision scissors replace sceptres and every chair stands as a seat of power.

From the first hot towel to the final line-up, each ritual is composed with the discipline of couture and the ease of old-world barbering. MONARCH does not chase trends; it sets the standard because a king never follows. He arrives.

Research & Design

Crowned in purple.

We studied how luxury barbers sell and why most feel like hotel spas. MONARCH needed a visual system that reads royal at a glance: black like a chessboard, purple like a coronation robe, type that commands the room.

Design inspiration — signature motifs

The visual language borrows from heritage royalty: chessboard contrast, coronation-purple accents, dome-nav ceremony. Every glow is earned volt-purple only fires where the eye should land next.

Premium feel, zero clichés

Luxury barber sites all drown in the same gold-leaf, leather-and-whisky template. MONARCH needed royalty without the costume.

Chess-king emblem + black/amethyst system + real-time 3D king. Luxury reads modern and regal never kitsch.

Cinematic films, a 3D GLB king and scroll-locked pins threatened load time and frame rate on mid-range phones.

Viewport-gated everything

Lazy video + GLB, pure-CSS motion, rAF scroll drivers. 100/100 performance, 60fps held mid-spin.

Five locations, one booking flow

King West to Harbourfront — five studios, different hours and services. Booking had to stay three taps simple.

One sticky rail, slots that adapt per studio, WhatsApp confirmation built in. Chair booked before the scroll ends.
